OUR VISION + BELIEFS

Our Vision

The vision of Centennial Baptist Church is to lead individuals and families in a growth process of worshipping God, connecting with others and serving the world.

Worship.

Connect.

Our Beliefs

  • God

We believe there is one God who exists in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

  • Jesus

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God who was born of a virgin, was fully God, and fully man, lived a sinless life, died in our place as a sacrifice for the sins of all mankind, was buried, arose bodily from the grave, and ascended into Heaven.

  • Holy Spirit

We believe that God, the Holy Spirit, is active in convincing unbelievers of their need for salvation and is the Comforter and Guide who lives in every believer.

  • The Return of Christ

We believe Jesus Christ will literally return to earth.

  • The Bible

We believe in the absolute authority of the Holy Scripture accepting fully the writings of the Old and New Testaments as the very word of God, verbally inspired in all parts; the scriptures are infallible and without error. Furthermore they are the authoritative rule for a life in faith.

  • Man

We believe that man is a special creation of God made in His image. We believe that God made the human race male and female. Man’s perfect relationship was severed through the sin of the first man, Adam, thus mankind fell so that all men are sinners in need of salvation.

  • Salvation

We believe in salvation by grace through faith, that salvation is a free gift of God to all who accept Jesus Christ. Salvation is not by any virtue or works of man but received only by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; that all true believers possess the gift of eternal life, a perfect righteousness, son-ship in the family of God and the divine guarantee that they shall never perish.

  • Assurance

We believe that every person who is truly saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Eternity

We believe that those persons who die in their sins without Christ will spend eternity separated from God in Hell and those persons who die with their sins forgiven through Christ alone will spend eternity in Heaven.

  • Satan

Se believe in the existence of Satan, the deceiver and god of this present world; that he was defeated and judged at the cross and therefore, his final doom is certain.

  • Baptism

We believe that water baptism is an act of obedience to the command of Christ and is by immersion after salvation.

  • Priesthood of Believers

We believe in the priesthood of all believers; that Christ is our great High Priest and through Him every born-again person has direct access into God’s presence without the need of a human priest, that the believer has the right and responsibility to personally study and interpret the Scripture according to God’s truth guided by the Holy Spirit.

  • Church

We believe that a New Testament church is an organized body of born-again, baptized believers practicing Scriptural ordinances and actively engaged in fulfilling the Great Commission. Furthermore we believe that the church should demonstrate love to one another inside the Body of Christ.

  • Church Ordinances

We believe that the New Testament teaches there are two Scriptural ordinances given to the local church. Baptism by immersion of believers only and the Lord’s Supper to be partaken of by obedient Christians of like faith and order.

  • Prayer

W believe that each believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Family

We believe in the Biblical definition of marriage between one man (male) and one woman (female) married for life is the Biblical foundation for the family.

  • Government

We believe in the separation of church and state but not in separation of God and government. Christians are to be salt and light in society.

The Problem with People

There is a Problem!

The Problem is called sin. Every person who has ever lived (except Jesus) has sinned. Sin is anything we do that goes against what God says is right in the Bible.

Even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:22-23 (NASB77)

There is a Price.

The Price is death, Spiritual death. The Bible tells us that all sin must be paid for.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 (NASB77)

There is a Plan.

God’s Plan to deal with all sin is called redemption!

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 (NASB77)

There is a Person.

That Person’s name is Jesus. God sent His Son Jesus to die on the Cross to cover our sin! Jesus is the only way to true forgiveness!

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me. John 14:6 (NASB77)

There is a Process.

The Bible calls this Process salvation. All people need Salvation! Salvation is where we recognize that we are sinners, ask God to forgive us and then turn to Jesus for Salvation!

That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. Romans 10:8-10 (NASB77)

There is a Place.

The Place is Heaven is the eternal home for all who ask God to forgive them of their sin through Jesus Christ.

Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:1-3 (NASB77)

If you believe you need Salvation simply ask God to help you. You can pray and ask Jesus to forgive you and help you. Pray a prayer like this: Dear Jesus I realize I am a sinner in need of forgiveness. Please forgive me. I need You, Jesus, to help me. Please change me, Jesus. I turn away from my sin and I desire to follow You Jesus. Amen.

If you prayed that prayer and really meant it then God did indeed save you. It is important to take the next steps in your new Christian life. Look for a Bible teaching church near you. If you live close to Rutledge Georgia give us a call so we can help you. We hope you will seek God’s forgiveness and begin to follow Him.
