What we believe AND CORE VALUES

GOD – we believe there is one God who exists in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

JESUS – we believe that Jesus is the Son of God who was born of a virgin, was fully God, and fully man, lived a sinless life, died in our place as a sacrifice for the sins of all mankind, was buried, arose bodily from the grave, and ascended into Heaven.

THE RETURN OF CHRIST – we believe Jesus Christ will literally return to earth.

HOLY SPIRIT – we believe that God, the Holy Spirit, is active in convincing unbelievers of their need for salvation and is the Comforter and Guide who lives in every believer.

THE BIBLE – we believe in the absolute authority of the Holy Scripture accepting fully the writings of the Old and New Testaments as the very word of God, verbally inspired in all parts; the scriptures are infallible and without error. Furthermore they are the authoritative rule for a life in faith.

MAN – we believe that man is a special creation of God made in His image. We believe that God made the human race male and female. Man’s perfect relationship was severed through the sin of the first man, Adam, thus mankind fell so that all men are sinners in need of salvation.

SALVATION – we believe in salvation by grace through faith, that salvation is a free gift of God to all who accept Jesus Christ. Salvation is not by any virtue or works of man but received only by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; that all true believers possess the gift of eternal life, a perfect righteousness, son-ship in the family of God and the divine guarantee that they shall never perish.

ASSURANCE – we believe that every person who is truly saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ.

ETERNITY – we believe that those persons who die in their sins without Christ will spend eternity separated from God in Hell and those persons who die with their sins forgiven through Christ alone will spend eternity in Heaven.

SATAN – we believe in the existence of Satan, the deceiver and god of this present world; that he was defeated and judged at the cross and therefore, his final doom is certain.

BAPTISM – we believe that water baptism is an act of obedience to the command of Christ and is by immersion after salvation.

PRIESTHOOD OF BELIEVERS – we believe in the priesthood of all believers; that Christ is our great High Priest and through Him every born-again person has direct access into God’s presence without the need of a human priest, that the believer has the right and responsibility to personally study and interpret the Scripture according to God’s truth guided by the Holy Spirit.

CHURCH – we believe that a New Testament church is an organized body of born-again, baptized believers practicing Scriptural ordinances and actively engaged in fulfilling the Great Commission. Furthermore we believe that the church should demonstrate love to one another inside the Body of Christ.

CHURCH ORDINANCES – we believe that the New Testament teaches there are two Scriptural ordinances given to the local church. Baptism by immersion of believers only and the Lord’s Supper to be partaken of by obedient Christians of like faith and order.

PRAYER – we believe that each believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ.

FAMILY – we believe in the Biblical definition of marriage between one man (male) and one woman (female) married for life is the Biblical foundation for the family.

GOVERNMENT – we believe in the separation of church and state but not in separation of God and government. Christians are to be salt and light in society.

As a participating Southern Baptist Church we invite you to review ‘The Baptist Faith & Message’ of the Southern Baptist Convention 2000 for a deeper understanding of what we believe including the Scriptural references.

The Gospel

"The first verse on the Romans Road to salvation is Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." We have all sinned. We have all done things that are displeasing to God. There is no one who is innocent. Romans 3:10-18 gives a detailed picture of what sin looks like in our lives.

The second Scripture on the Romans Road to salvation, Romans 6:23, teaches us about the consequences of sin - "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." The punishment that we have earned for our sins is death. Not just physical death, but eternal death!

The third verse on the Romans Road to salvation picks up where Romans 6:23 left off, "but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 5:8 declares, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Jesus Christ died for us! Jesus’ death paid for the price of our sins. Jesus’ resurrection proves that God accepted Jesus’ death as the payment for our sins.

The fourth stop on the Romans Road to salvation is Romans 10:9, "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Because of Jesus’ death on our behalf, all we have to do is believe in Him, trusting His death as the payment for our sins - and we will be saved! Romans 10:13 says it again, "for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins and rescue us from eternal death. Salvation, the forgiveness of sins, is available to anyone who will trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

The final aspect of the Romans Road to salvation is the results of salvation. Romans 5:1 has this wonderful message, "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Through Jesus Christ we can have a relationship of peace with God. Romans 8:1 teaches us, "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Because of Jesus’ death on our behalf, we will never be condemned for our sins. Finally, we have this precious promise of God from Romans 8:38-39, "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.'"
